Mental Math
Today I want to share one of my favorite techniques for improving math skills. Practicing this one technique will save you precious minutes during the SAT and ACT and help you ace your math classes!
Mental Math
I start all of my math tutoring sessions with at least 10 mental math problems. It gets my students thinking math and ready to study. You can start your days with it too. The trick is to work out the problems in your head without pen and paper. Definitely NO calculators!
Practice simple skills like multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction. You can find worksheets online or shoot me an email at jyeager@post.harvard.edu and I would love to send you some problems.
It’s also something you can incorporate into your daily life. Resist the urge to use your calculator throughout the day. Figure out tips and totals in your head. Split checks using mental math. Post in the comments about how you use mental math during your day. I would love to hear from you!
